Abstract

The research purpose is to clarify the features of asynchronous development of gifted children with psychophysical disorders that will be a substantial argument for shaping a differentiated approach to teaching such children amidst inclusion. Methodology and methods. It is substantiated that the methodological provision is the interpretation of the phenomenon of giftedness as asynchronous development, which stipulates special needs and provides for the creation of conditions for their satisfaction. It was applied a retrospective analysis, generalization and systematization of the scientific literature on the relevant problem; participation observation using the observation protocol and the author’s survey. The study participants are inclusive classes with talented and gifted children with special educational needs (n=100) and teachers (n=25) who maintain the organization of an inclusive space and conduct classes with such students. Results. It was defined the features of asynchronous development of gifted children with special needs, as follows: specifics of motivational, cognitive and social components, involving the deficiency of cognitive and adaptive skills, breach of socially acceptable norms, limited communication, etc. An experimental model of gifted-ness research, which contains the features of a gifted person at four levels: psychophysiological, psychological, socio-psychological and pedagogical, was elaborated. Conclusions. The main issues which need urgent addressing were summarized, including adherence to the principle of the best interests of gifted children with special needs and the application of a comprehensive approach to ensure their right to access to high-quality educational and social services. Emphasis was placed on the development of teaching & learning materials for alternative forms of education and the upbringing of gifted children.
