Abstract
The article reveals the urgency of the problem of formation of social and life competencies in preschool children with varying degrees of intellectual impairment. An analysis of literature sources, normative documents and modern domestic research on the problems of improving the quality of preschool education of children with special educational needs and prospects for their solution is presented. The latest trends in the field of domestic preschool education of children with special needs at the present stage are outlined. It envisage the introduction of the Concept of education of children of early and preschool age, the Basic preschool component; priority of early detection of developmental problems and early comprehensive care for children with mental and physical disabilities. The problems of organization, educational and methodical support of education and upbringing of children with intellectual disabilities, the need to create a system of psychological and pedagogical support of children and their families, the presence of certain psychophysical limitations in children with complex developmental disorders are described. Modern practices of teaching and educating children with intellectual disabilities in the preschool department of the municipal educational institution «Special School «CHANCE» Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council», which is a scientific and experimental site of the Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology named after Mykola Yarmachenko NAPS of Ukraine. The issues of organization, provision of complex correctional-developmental and rehabilitation influence on children's development for the purpose of social adaptation and formation of vital skills are covered. Emphasis is placed on the importance of coordinated work of all levels of management of the institution, which involves the involvement of teachers, parents, the public, creating conditions for continuous improvement of the educational process. Prerequisites for the development strategy of the institution are an effective system of methodological, correctional and developmental work, rehabilitation measures, psychological and social support, national and patriotic education, organization of work with parents. Prospects for further research on the outlined issues are presented.
