Abstract
Denoting the category of children with special educational needs, a wide group of persons is considered. Children with special educational needs are persons with various disorders of mental or physical development, combined disorders that determine and affect the general development, and in a certain way, do not allow the individual to fully socialize, like children/adolescents with typical development. Synonyms for the definition of "children with intellectual disabilities" can be such categories as "person with psychophysical disorders", "personality with atypical development", "person with mental disorders" (predominantly used for persons with disorders of intellectual development). It will be appropriate to note that nowadays it is not correct to use such terms as "defect", "debility", "idiocy", "underdeveloped", "disabled", "child with defects or developmental disabilities" etc.
