Abstract
The article reveals the main principles and approaches to the integration of history and civic education in the civic and historical education courses of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education. A general overview of trends and periods of development of school social science education in Ukraine, integration and disintegration was carried out. Concepts related to the integrative approach in education are compared and clarified. The model curricula of integrated courses for institutions of general secondary education for the adaptation cycle ("Exploring history and society (integrated course)" and "Ukraine and the world. Introduction to history and civics education. 5-6 grades (integrated course)") were analyzed separately. the provisions of the article are illustrated with examples.
