Abstract
The abstracts highlight the foreign experience as to the implementing of the didactic function of the system of tasks in the geography textbook. In particular, the role of questions and tasks in geography textbooks is outlined for (1) assessing the process of students' acquisition of knowledge, skills, along with providing an opportunity to self-assess; (2) acquisition and application of competencies; (3) preparing the student for an independent way of life and self-realization; (4) development of students' spatial thinking. It was revealed that some foreign researchers drew their conclusions about the innovative and practical dimensions of the curriculum based on the analysis of geography textbooks for general secondary education institutions, in particular the questions and tasks contained in them.
