Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the influence of poll results regarding candidate ratings on the formation of public opinion and the electoral choice of citizens. The results of a survey on the attitude of respondents to the presidential ratings, which are published by sociological centers on the eve of the 2004 elections, are presented, as well as trust in the results of these surveys. Sociological research was conducted in all administrative-territorial units of Ukraine: 24 regions, AR Crimea, the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol. A total of 2,093 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed. The respondents' achievement level was 75%. The sample population is representative in terms of basic socio-demographic features. Standard deviations at a credible 95% and a ratio of variables from 0.1 : 0.9 to 0.5 : 0.5 are 1.31 – 2.18%. The survey was conducted in 130 settlements: 67 cities and 63 villages of Ukraine.
