Abstract
The article reveals the importance of non-formal education in the educational needs of var-ious categories of adults, including the elderly. The educational institutions of Ukraine that carry out various types of non-formal adult education have been identified. Based on static data and the study of practical ex-perience of non-formal adult education, it was found that the artistic direction is in demand for the elderly. Emphasis is placed on the fact that art technologies play an important role in the education of the elderly in non-formal education. Scientific views are analyzed on the definition of the content and essence «art technol-ogy» concept, based on art, which has a powerful socializing, spiritual, educational, creative potential. Based on the analysis of scientific sources, it was found that the effectiveness of the use of art technologies is en-sured by adherence to andragogical principles of teaching the elderly. The art technologies importance in the educational process is proved, by the educational, developmental, communicative, compensatory and thera-peutic functions. The introduction of art technologies based on fine arts, containing a significant amount of various techniques and artistic materials. The advantages of using these technologies in the education of the elderly in non-formal education are characterized. It is generalized that art technologies serve as a mecha-nism for creative development of the gerontological stage of people's lives, which contributes to overcoming social isolation; rehabilitates the elderly in the age-related loss of many social resources; restores the harmo-ny that was lost in reality; stimulates the process of self-realization, personal development, active and healthy aging through art.
