Abstract
The article submits an informational review of the scientific vision of Ukrainian scientists and practitioners of substantiation of importance and relevance of a spiritual and moral personality education at the present stage of development of Ukrainian society. The essence of the concepts of “spirituality” and “moral education” as the main concepts that is priority in a particular educational issue on the basis of the analysis of scientific publications are reviewed. The article explains that modern psychological and pedagogical science considers education of spiritual and moral personality as a purposeful process of mastering the growing generation of moral categories, values, principles, ideas that developed by humanity and accepted by society at the level of their own beliefs, compliance with them as conventual forms of personal behavior, whose main objective is the formation of a morally viable, coherent personality. The article notes that now there is a deformation of many spiritual values, a decrease of the moral level of society in general and of the growing generation in particular. The attention of the academic community is paid to the need to change the content points of the educational process, the search for forms and methods of improving the effectiveness of social value impact on the growing personality that supposes the spiritual self-realization of the established moral values and skills in any life situation. The article presents a range of modern approaches that actively used by researchers in practice. The attention is focused on spiritually oriented approach, its main principles are highlighted. This article notes that the search for effective approaches of involvement the growing personality in the highest spiritual values is justifiably associated with the improvement of the content, forms and methods of this process. The main functions of the teacher-professional personality, the effectiveness of the implementation of which depends on its characteristics and actions are highlighted and analyzed. The article concludes that the problem raised acquires special weight, and today’s educational realities increasingly require new approaches to solving problems due to the challenges of our time.
