Abstract
Problem formulation. The role of a physics teacher in the formation of modern scientific worldview of students is one of the leading, because the study of physics as a source of understanding of natural phenomena is fundamentally important for the development of other natural sciences. Educational knowledge has much in common with scientific knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary not only to acquaint students with the system of ready-made scientific truths, but also to equip them with methods of scientific knowledge. However, in the programs of pedagogical universities in general physics, insufficient attention is paid to the formation of students’ methodological knowledge. When studying each section of the course of general physics, it is necessary to reveal the didactic potential of methodological principles of physics, which contribute to students’ mastery of the methods of scientific cognition. Materials and methods. - theoretical analysis of philosophical, methodological, psychological and pedagogical, scientific and methodological literature; - methodological analysis of educational programs and manuals; - system-structural analysis of the content of scientific concepts. Research results. The paper proposes a list of sections and topics of the course of general physics, during the study of which it is possible to reveal the essence of methodological principles of physics, show their role in understanding the laws of the universe and building scientific physical models and theories. Conclusions. In order to effectively equip future physics teachers with a system of knowledge based on methodological principles and values established in science, it is necessary to develop and implement a special course "Methodology of Physics and Methods of Teaching Physics" in the process of training relevant pedagogical staff of higher educational institutions. In addition, in our opinion, a promising area of further research is the development of a methodology for teaching physics based on the didactics of physics and the methodology of physics.
