Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the program on “Ukrainian Sign Language. Grade 1" for special institutions of general secondary education for children with hearing impairments, which will help to trace how the skills of the VSM of children with hearing impairments develop; it is shown that Ukrainian sign language is a full-fledged visual communication system; UZhM is a symbolic language with its own structure and patterns, which serves as a means of communication for deaf people in Ukraine, who consider themselves a linguistic minority.
