Abstract

In the article a brief overview of the development of children’s literature from the mid 19th century up to the the present is presented. The issue of critical conception of the children’s literature of the independence peiod is not given enough consideration. In Soviet times it was a politicized analysis regarding both partisanship and communist education, and it was reflected in the periodization of children’s literature, which entirely coincided with the periodization of general literature. Yet children’s literature is characterized by the special features of its formation and development, which often coincided with transformations in the social and political life of the country. And this is the issue under analysis in the presented study.
