Abstract
The article raises issues of basic environmental knowledge and skills that are formed in the process of learning the natural sciences and become fundamental to the development of modern environmental thinking and consciousness of citizens who can lead society to a path of balanced (sustainable) development. Thus, the author emphasizes - environmental education is designed to provide a new generation of scientific knowledge about the relationship between nature and society to help understand the diversity of values for society and everyone, in particular, the need to develop relationships with nature and take an active part in improving the environment.
