Abstract

The theses substantiate that education based on the principles of critical thinking is a space for overcoming contraversion, a space for searching and finding consensus – all stakeholders of the educational process should participate in this process. It is shown that actually, these stakeholders are representatives of different social communities and different cultures-this was shown by the controversy in secondary school regarding the language of teaching, gender education, Christian ethics, etc.; critical thinking should be presented in 4 main dimensions: in the content of education (as democratic values and a culture of competition), in the form of education (knowledge of the rules of thinking, argumentation and discussion), in motivation to education (taking into account the experience of critical pedagogy) and, finally, last on the list, but not in importance – in personal engagement in education (not only pedagogical skill, but also dedication to the pedagogical vocation).
