Abstract
The article emphasizes the main provisions that are the basis of correctional and developmental assistance to children with intellectual disabilities. It is emphasized that the social situation, regardless of the age period of their development, is decisive, which determines the process of life. As a result, children develop new personality traits and develop mental neoplasms, which in turn leads to a restructuring of consciousness, to changes in the system of their attitude to the environment, other people and themselves.
