Abstract

The article deals with ambiguity situations in psychologists' professional activities. The author discusses the features of ambiguous situations and types of individuals' attitudes (intolerant and tolerant) toward uncertainties. It has been shown that psychologists' specialties which include research, teaching and counseling are characterized by their professional tasks made up of ambiguous situations, which in turn requires psychologists' tolerance for ambiguity. The author analyzes the sources of ambiguity in the profession of a psychologist, which can be internal and external, as well as describes the types of ambiguity in relation to psychologists' professional activities
