Abstract
The textbook presents the author's approach to understanding the problems of socialization and individualization of persons with psychophysical disorders and the essential characteristics of the process of their social development; the results of researches of domestic and foreign authors on problems of social development and formation of the person with psychophysical disturbances by formation of socially-adaptive abilities, skills, vital and health-preserving competences are generalized; the conditions promoting socialization of persons, and also separate reasons of social maladaptation are considered; the connection of the process of socialization, educational space and socio-cultural situation, as well as the socializing function of correctional and educational space as a factor of social development and formation of the student's personality with the peculiarities of intellectual development in a special institution; methods of organization and components of the correctional and educational environment are presented, depending on the type of connections and relations that make up its structure. Issues of improving the quality of education, expanding opportunities for teaching and educating people with mental and physical disabilities and helping to improve the performance of pedagogical teams of educational institutions are considered. Addressed to scientists, teachers, educators, psychologists of special education institutions, social workers, students of the faculties of correctional pedagogy and psychology of pedagogical universities, graduate students, anyone interested in the problems of socialization of people with mental and physical disorders.
