Abstract

Taking into account the competence approach in the methodological aspect of the textbook, it is important to focus not on students' assimilation of the amount of knowledge, defined by the program, but on the application of this knowledge in specific life circumstances/realities, which is implemented in the textbook "Ukrainian language and reading for the 4th grade with the Polish language of instruction in general secondary education institutions" (author N. I. Bogdanets-Biloskalenko). The textbook is aimed at practical mastering of language as a means of communication and cognition, taking into account the development of four types of speech activity (listening, speaking, reading, writing), which involves the activation of students' and teachers' activities based on communication situations that are updated by means of modern and interesting for students texts and fragments of works of fiction.
