Abstract

The concept of "competence", "key competences" in EU educational documents is revealed in the work. It was found that the competence approach is a leading educational innovation of the last decade, which is actively implemented in the educational process of developed countries in Europe and the world. It is emphasized that key competencies are developed in the process of lifelong learning through formal, non-formal and informal learning.
