Abstract
The article presents the results of a theoretical study into high school students' economic self-determination, which is associated with the process of economic socialization. The study revealed that economic self-determination (as a type of self-determination) for young students is one of the most important tasks at the appropriate stage of life and is the central mechanism of personal maturity, which is a conscious choice of one's place in economic relations. The specificity of the concept of economic self-determination of the individual and its non-identity of the content of professional self-determination, despite the commonality of their fundamental personal determinants (basic attitudes to the world, to themselves, other people, life meanings). The quality of economic self-determination determines the degree of economic activity of people not only in the field of consumption strategies, but also in the social practice of organizing life in general.
