Abstract
Comparative studies of teacher education and its reform (a rather underdeveloped field in most EU member states) have identified a large number of (persistent) problems of teacher education related to theories and methodologies, knowledge base based on research / for the teaching profession or relevant teaching / learning strategies) and the potential for improvement - sometimes with great differences between different EU Member States. An analysis of foreign research on the interdisciplinary nature of teacher education has shown that an interdisciplinary approach to the organization of teaching and learning contributes to an integrated approach; competence-oriented learning and improving the quality of teaching and learning; strengthening cooperation with other teachers and specialists, curriculum development and development of their communication skills; implementation of various research projects to improve teacher education related to STEM education; development of educational and technological innovations; approval of interdisciplinary pedagogy as a subdiscipline of educational science/
