Abstract
The content of the article reveals the concept of key and basic competencies of a specialist in the modern world, which reflects the standards of all levels of education, developed during the reform of modern Ukrainian education. In the article the author characterizes various forms of organization of educational process in geography with coverage of educational and cognitive activity of students in different modes (traditional, independent work and interactive) and consideration of traditional and non-traditional types of geography lesson, practical and homework in geography and extracurricular and profile geographical education.
