Abstract

The article emphasizes the urgency of the problem of the youth preparation, in particular high school students, to responsible parenting and using the achievements of pedagogy made since olden to modern times. The positions of Ukrainian folk pedagogy are highlighted: the providing the priority of parenting in the upbringing of a child; the parenting love, selfless and exacting, is the basis of the family upbringing; proper parenting upbringing should form the high moral personality. The approaches to parenting exposed in literary heritage (“Volodymyr Monomakh’s Instructions to Children”, works of humanists of Renaissance, H. Skovoroda, poetic works of I. Kotliarevskyi, T. Shevchenko). They regard parenting as the important mission that is comes out in the limitless care of their children and their preparation to worthy human life. The works of the outstanding pedagogues are analyzed (K. Ushynskyi, S. Rusova, I. Ohiienko, H. Vashchenko, A. Makarenko, V. Sukhomlynskyi) where the core characteristics of responsible parenting are revealed (the care of physical and intellectual development of children, creating the conditions for fulfilment of their cognitive interests, comprehension of their psychological peculiarities, realization of educative influence on the basis of the parenting authority, true love for their children). The attention on the compulsory preparation of adolescents, directly from school, to the family life and parenting is accented. The survey of separate investigations of the latest decades is made where the importance of the raise of pedagogical culture of parents, the importance of the youth’s preparation to parenting and usage of in this preparation the foreign experience is emphasized. The expediency of using the ideas of the parenting in modern educational process is emphasized primarily understanding that parenting is the responsible process and needs corresponding knowledge and skills, compulsory preparation, ability of expression of love to a child and realization of the effective family upbringing based on the parental authority.
