Abstract
The paper is devoted to the issue ofcareer-guidance activities in the secondary school. The concept of career guidance is explained and its stages are established. The content and divisions of career-guidance activities in junior, medium, and senior classes have been described, and the main task of such activities have been defined. The teacher's role in choosing both the specialization of studies and the field of the pupils‟ professional activities is pointed out. Methods of career-guidance activities aimed at pupils‟ self-determination stimulation have been defined. Some special features of the development of professional interest and motivation for learning academic disciplines within the system of pre-university training at a technical university have been analyzed. It is underlined the role of a teacher in creating optimal conditions for the successful development of individual skills, identifying aptitudes, inclinations, assistance in self – determination – first in choosing the profile of study, and then in the choice of professional field. Methods of career guidance for students' self-activation have been defined. The need for career-guidance activities in the system “pupil-teacher-parents” has been emphasized.
