Abstract
The urgency of the stated problem is due to the need to revise and clarify the goal of teaching a foreign language in a modern institution of general secondary education in the context of the intercultural paradigm.The purpose of foreign language education at school within the framework of the intercultural approach should be not only teaching students a foreign language and culture of the target language country, but equally the culture of their native country.The object of the research is writing (written language) as a productive type of speech activity, the role of which has significantly increased in the modern dynamic and globalized world.The article identifies and characterizes a complex of exercises and tasks as a basis for the formation of intercultural foreign language communicative competence of 5–6 grades students in writing.The proposed complex includes language, conditional speech and speech exercises, and communicative tasks, as well as developed by the author examples for them. In particular, language exercises are preparatory and are used to master the language material in graphic (writing) form and to develop the skills of logical and consistent presentation of ideas.Conditional speech exercises are designed to form and improve lexical and grammatical writing skills. A distinctive feature of speech exercises is the focus on the content of the written utterance. Communicative tasks allow students to performa set of sequential communicative actions aimed at achieving certain goals independently, including the formulation of their thoughts in writing. Exercises and tasks take into account the requirements of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education for the compulsory learning outcomes of students in grades 5–6 in foreign language writing.Theauthor’s complex of exercises and communicative tasks for the formation of intercultural foreign language communicative competence of students in writing is intended for use in foreign language lessons in basic school.
