Abstract
The section tells about the Kiev charity school for deaf children, which functioned in the first quarter of the twentieth century. In the course of the research it was established that the development of “Kyiv charity school for deaf and dumb children” in the early 20th century had a democratic character and was determined by socio-political, socioeconomic and pedagogical factors. This institution was established in 1900 with the support of the Guardianship of the Empress Mariia Fedorivna of the “deaf and dumb” and began its work only through a generous donation of 10 thousand rubles made by famous sugar manufacturer, philanthropist Mykola Artemovych Tereshchenko. After the revolutionary events, this system was completely destroyed. But the Kiev Charitable School did not cease to exist.
