Abstract
The provisions of the scientific article cover the problems of teaching English as a foreign language to students with hearing impairments. The technology & subsystem of exercises is substantiated to form English lexical competence in students of the 5th grade with hearing impairments, based on the gradual mastery of the lexical unit with the use of support means. The formation of lexical skills of lexical unit use is provided by interval repetition of all forms of lexical unit during the lesson and extracurricular activities. According to the results of approbation of the subsystem of exercises for the formation of English lexical competence, its efficiency is proved for the formation of the operational and functional basis of lexical skills It was found that most children use Ukrainian sign language as a language to translate the meaning of English lexical items. Therefore, the last lexical system should be taken into account when explaining the meanings of new English lexical units.
