Abstract

The article looks at peculiarities of training high school pupils in Physics and Mathematics provided by pre-university preparatory institutes. The author defines the major forms and functions of pre-university training of high school pupils in Ukraine – cognitive, motivational, socializing, informative and profession-oriented. The article reviews the experience of the National Aviation University (Kyiv) in the field of training high schools pupils in Physics and Mathematics provided by courses offered by the university Preparatory Institute. The author draws particular attention to one of the problems faced by preparatory institutes, namely, the absence of proper legal basis and standards regulating the work of courses providing effective training of high school pupils in Physics and Mathematics.
