Abstract
The article deals with the problem of the modern teacher's compliance with the requirements of the Ukrainian educational system at the stage of its reform. The main resource of the reform is the teaching staff capable of carrying out innovative activities and creating an innovative educational environment. Among the professional characteristics of the personality of a modern teacher, the author identified "innovative thinking", among the main changes in schools - the educational environment.
