Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of theoretical and practical aspects of the experience of introducing specialized education in school education of Ukraine in 2011–2017 of the XXІ century. The key guidelines for reforming the general secondary education system are outlined, which presented in the legal documents, in particular: «The State Standard for Basic and Complete General Secondary Education» (2011); Order «On approval of the Concept of specialized education in high school»; «The concept of specialized education in high school» (2013); «Concept of the New Ukrainian School»(2016); updated version of the Law of Ukraine «About Education» (2017); «Draft conceptual foundations of reforming vocational education in Ukraine» «Modern vocational education» (2018) and others. The most significant problems of development of modern general secondary education are characterized, among which: excessively theorized content of curricula and textbooks, impracticality of acquired knowledge, skills and abilities of students to apply them in everyday life, outdated material and technical base; insufficient funding and increasing the prestige of teachers, which in turn reduces the level of motivation of educational and pedagogical staff; low quality of textbooks and accompanying training materials; excessive overloading of educational programs with theoretical material to the detriment of practical; focus on the average student without taking into account the individual abilities of the student's personality. Perspective directions of modernization of general secondary education are determined, which are given in these documents. Information is provided on the educational fields in which education is carried out in general secondary education institutions, such as: language and literature; mathematical; natural; technological; computer science; social and health; civil and historical; artistic; Physical Education. Perspective directions of modernization of general secondary education, which contribute to the actual construction of each high school student's own educational trajectory in accordance with those adopted by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine over all these years, are analyzed.
