Abstract

The article emphasizes the importance of considering the problem of differentiation of student learning in the historical context. The analysis of experience of application of differentiation of training of pupils in the countries which existed (or exist) in the territory of Europe is carried out: Ancient Greece, Sparta, Ancient Rome, Italy, Ukraine, Germany. Covered time period – from ancient times – to the Renaissance (inclusive). Some positive achievements in the application of differentiation of education for their further implementation in the practice of modern school are described, the negative aspects for the prevention of similar errors are highlighted. Tips for effective application of differentiation of education in schools of Ukraine are synthesized.
