Abstract

The functions of titles are revealed, which are common to all types of texts, and are also the subject of study in primary school in reading lessons (practically, without the use of terms). This is a nominative, graphical, informative, predictive function. The prognostic function of the title of the text as an important prerequisite for updating the background knowledge of students, helping to build readers' versions of the approximate content of the work is substantiated and illustrated in detail.
