Abstract

The article actualizes the problem of formation of professional and value orientations, which is a source of personal and professional growth. It is determined that the formation of professional and value orientations is activated during the profile and professional self-determination of students, because each profession is somehow connected with the hierarchy of values. In addition, a significant lever of effective professional development of the individual is his or her ability to find personal meaning in future professional activities. It is proved that education of a consistent system of values provides conscientious attitude to professional activity, encourages a person to creative search, is a guarantee of adaptability to the dynamic conditions of the labor market, active and creative activity. In accordance with the purpose, the content of the concept of “professional and value orientations of students to work” is clarified, its components, criteria and indicators are revealed, the levels of formation (high, medium, low) are singled out. The list of research methods for studying the peculiarities of the formation of professional and value orientations to work in adolescents and high school students, which are widely used in psychological and pedagogical practice, indicates their reliability and age-appropriate psychological structure of the personality of adolescents and high school students. The results of intermediate diagnostics of the cognitive component of professional and value orientations of students to work are given. Interpretation of the results of the questionnaire and the method of “Career Anchors” allowed us to conclude that the total percentage of students who have a well-formed system of knowledge about future work in general is 14%; 29% of students have an incomplete system of knowledge about future work and 57% of students have superficial and unsystematic knowledge about future work. There are also significant differences in the levels of knowledge about their own individual characteristics and differences in career orientations in high school students and adolescents. It was found that the least developed in both high school and adolescents is the ability to reconcile the requirements of the future field of professional activity and their own individual characteristics. It is determined that the results obtained by the methods do not contradict the modern directions of research (Generation Theory, Social Cognitive Career Theory) and the results of theoretical and applied research of other specialists.
