Abstract
The relevance of the study of the historiography of adult vocational education was proved in the article. The urgency of adult education is reflected in Ukrainian and European regulations. Historiographical achievements of studying the problem of vocational education of adults in European countries have been generalized and systematized. Andragogical research by European scientists was both theoretical and empirical. Theorists of adult education in their scientific works focused on a comprehensive study of the problems of vocational training of adults. They are: H. Titgens, H. Drager, J. Olbrich and W. Seitter, D. Delors, E. Faure. Researchers from different European countries have systematized the historiography of the development of vocational education of adults in their country. They are: H. Engelbrecht, F. Jodl, G. Günther, M. Vogel, J. Olbrich. Some scholars have presented the history of adult vocational education in terms of classical chronology, while others have presented it in terms of sociology, culturology and politics. They are: W. Bründl, F. Balser, J. Henningsen, A. Kapp, C. Pache, G. Fischer, W. Göhring, H. Siemering. In the last decade of the twentieth century, research in the field of the history of adult vocational education has intensified. Researchers studied the process of formation of public education in European countries, the issues of vocational training of adults in a comparative aspect, the formation and development of the theory and practice of adult education. They are: D. Savicevic, J. Henschke, J. Draper, C. Katanski, E. Rosenstock-Huessy, A. Stopińska-Pająk, D. Nittel, W. Gieseke. Also, the research of modern researchers in this field relates to the study of theoretical aspects of adult learning, analysis of the experience of the educational process, the history of andragogy, empirical research on the problem of adult learning Europeans and some others.
