Abstract
The article highlights the results of the ascertaining stage of the study of the problem of preparing high school students for lifelong learning in the modern educational environment of the high school. In particular, the preparation of students for lifelong learning is seen as a factor influencing the quality of the educational process and the quality of students' development in the process of forming their readiness for life in the XXI century. The main components of the gymnasium educational environment as an integrated system (organization of the educational process; content of gymnasium education; teacher with innovative thinking; sociocultural environment of the gymnasium) are described, which comprehensively provide personal development, training, education and socialization of gymnasium students.
