Abstract
In the context of the competence approach to social adaptation, considers the concept of "social competence". Based on the analysis of key semantic units, modern scientific and pedagogical approaches to the issue of social adaptation and social competence of children with intellectual disabilities are analyzed. The main directions of work on the formation of social competence and social adaptation in the educational institution are outlined. Along with this, based on the analysis of sources, the main directions of formation of adaptive educational environment and educational work with students with intellectual disabilities are identified. The tasks of further research of the outlined question, in particular questions about structure and functions, ways and means, features of formation and functioning of social competence at various stages of ontogenesis of the person, and also, research of features and ways of formation of social competence at children with intellectual disabilities in inclusive education are defined. As a result of this work it was determined that to overcome the negative trends in the preparation of this category of children for integration into society, it is necessary to develop new approaches to their education, upbringing and organization of all life. This task should be solved taking into account the whole range of medical, pedagogical, economic, social, socio-psychological problems related to the social protection of children with special needs, their education, upbringing, rehabilitation and adaptation to the social environment. In turn, we confirmed that social competence is a complex structured, multifunctional phenomenon, which in terms of content is characterized by the assimilation of social norms and the formation of social qualities, skills and abilities; in the procedural aspect - the interaction of society and the individual. Thus, we determined that the socio-pedagogical activities in the educational institution should be implemented as a technology for transforming the social situation of child development into pedagogical, educational, training and developmental focus on the main tasks of social adaptation, which are the formation of values and norms of behavior necessary for life in society, communicative and social competence.
