Abstract

In theses importance of using translation in vocabulary work to teach Ukrainian as a second language is emphasized. Relevant techniques are listed and described: performing exercises for correlation of words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, texts, which are offered in Ukrainian and native language. Possible features of vocabulary are considered and the following variants are singled out: words are previously mastered in oral speech, vocabulary is previously studied, during performance of tasks acquaintance with unfamiliar words takes place. It is emphasized that the tasks of translation are possible both during the enrichment of the dictionary with new words, and for consolidating the studied words, clarifying their semantic nuances.
