Abstract
The article substantiates theoretically and empirically the psychological mechanism of symbolization in the structure of communicative activities of preschool children with developmental delay. Symbolization acts as a way of orientation in uncertain situations arising at a child’s cognitive efforts and communications. The author argues that a symbol can become a mechanism of understanding of “divided” subjectivity; symbols appear in various interactions and facilitate cooperation and formation of co-existing relationships with adults and peers. The article substantiates theoretically that the structure of communicative activities includes the structure of its reflective component, along with para-social and intra-subjective types of interactions. As for children with developmental delay, symbols do not cause emotional experiences and reflections at them, and therefore it is difficult for them to stay at another person’s meaningful position, understand his/her feelings, goals, motives, interests and perceive the world from his/her point of view. Psychological dynamics of value-semantic categories in the structure of communicative activities of preschool children with developmental delay was empirically investigated.
