Abstract
The paper identifies the shortcomings of modern training of specialists in mechanical engineering, which arise in the process of professional activity and the orientation of the leading goals of standardization of competence-oriented training of specialists in vocational education institutions. A number of shortcomings and contradictions have been identified, which may hinder the processes of formation of professional competencies (PC) and professionally important qualities (PІQ) for the full development of future employees of the machine-building industry and training of competitive specialists in newly created professional higher education. The reference model of realization of the competence-oriented approach - the professiogram on the basis of which the choice of professional competences should be carried out is offered. Describes the need to develop a set of POF and PC (end-to-end program), which can be formed in each of the disciplines to start the process of holistic training.
