Abstract
The article explores the theoretical aspects of constructing the multicultural content of history textbooks, defines the concepts of multiculturalism, multicultural content of history textbooks in the context of the competence of learning, identifies the factors that complicate the implementation of a multicultural approach to the formation of content of historical education. Like any sociocultural phenomenon, multiculturalism is difficult to be uniquely characterized. Multiculturalism within the school historical education is: a methodological approach to the formation of the content of education / training, and characterization of the pervasive phenomenon of Ukrainian history from ancient times to the present, and the requirement of modern globalized society, and the result of the interaction of cultures. The novelty of our approaches is the presence of two interrelated factors: 1) we consider multiculturalism as an integrative quality formed by high school students / high school students in the process of history teaching; 2) all aspects of the multicultural approach to the formation of the content of historical education in grades 10-11 and the multicultural content of history textbooks are covered in the context of competently oriented teaching of history In the course of the research we monitored the multicultural and competency context of updated programs, textbooks on the history of Ukraine for lyceums [my thesis]. In our opinion, multicultural content should be expanded in all topics devoted to culture at different stages of its development, to the daily life of peoples who lived on the territory of Ukraine.
