Abstract

The abstracts present the results of the analysis of current geography textbooks for 6-9th grades as to the placing of structural and symbolic images (non-text elements (drawings, tables, graphs, diagrams, maps, etc.)) in them. These structural and symbolic images are characterized, their number and percentages are given and examples were referred to, as well. The conclusion is made about the urgency of the problem of skills formation to work with structural and symbolic images of students of general secondary education.
