Abstract
The main features of the process of development of correctional education of children with mental disabilities in Ukraine (second half of the XIX - first half of the XX century) at different stages of social development of Ukraine are analyzed. It was established that the social, economical, political and cultural factors influenced the development of the correctional education of the subsidiary educational establishments’ pupils in the mentioned historical period. In the research process the theoretical background of the mentally deficient pupils’ education origination in the mentioned historical period was analyzed. The analysis of the theoretical, methodical and organizational foundations of the mentally deficient pupils’ correctional education was established. The prognostic possibilities of using a historical experience in modern conditions of public development have been determined. Presentation of the new historical-pedagogical documents to the scientific usage helps to provide more objective estimation of the mentioned category’s pupils correctional education, its origination and the following development during the second half of the XIX – the first half of the XX century.
