Abstract
In the article, the educational and equipment status of schools for children with special needs in the era of independence of Ukraine is represented. The required social protection of children with special educational needs is disclosed. Social and pedagogical work with youth with special needs which is deemed to be of complex, integrated and multidimensional nature requiring a special approach to children with special needs is indicated. The efficient provision with both educational tools and various technical resources for special schools is analysed. Special, social and pedagogical activities for people with special educational needs which envisage harmonization and humanization of relationship between an individual and the society through elaboration of the pedagogical environment and the provision of social services are represented. It is highlighted that the principle of equality of social, cultural rights and freedom for all citizens is the legal basis for the formation of the state policy concerning the rights of children with special needs. The main goal of social and pedagogical activities with young people with special needs aiming at their integration in life is considered. It is argued the principal tasks of social and pedagogical activities for the youth with special needs is the adaptation and socialization of such people as well as meeting special and social needs of the youth with special needs and creating the educational environment for young people with special needs and balancing lives of families in which young people with special needs live. Activities for children and the youth with special needs are deemed to be one of the important and priority areas of special and social education. They should be based on the legal foundations of social protection and support for this category of population. In the article, current standards applied to the needs of people with special needs are substantiated. The author analyzed the educational and equipment status of schools for children with special needs using methods of analysis, synthesis, systematization and generalization. An article can be used as a guideline for better practice of socializing children with special educational needs and their integration into the society.
