Abstract

The author analyses the components of cross-cultural competence of top managers of international organizations: communicative, linguistic, and intercultural. The communicative competence of top managers manifests itself in the ability to organize the work of the company as a single organism, to adequately perceive the peculiarities of the culture of the country in which it operates, to establish interactions with local staff. Communicative competence positively influences the development and formation of such popular qualities as flexibility, tolerance, mobility, susceptibility, sensitivity to changes, and willingness to take risks. Linguistic competence is closely linked to communicative, since interaction can only be performed through communication (verbal and nonverbal). Intercultural competency is considered as a complex of analytical and strategic abilities, which broadens the interpretive spectrum of the top manager in the process of interaction with representatives of other cultures. It is also a positive attitude to the values of another culture, to overcome ethnic and cultural centrism. Effective cross-cultural management means working with representatives of other business cultures based on the recognition and respect of cross-cultural differences and the formation of a common corporate value system that would be perceived and recognized by each member of the multinational team of the company.
