Abstract

There are presented the results of the comparative analysis of the system of work with the families of military staff in USA, Canada, and United Kingdom as the first stage of generalization of the international experience. As the main research method it is used the analysis of English-language studies, as well as in-depth interviews among US and Canada officers, officers’ wives, veterans, and veterans’ wives (6 in total, 5 of them in person, 1 – using Skype). The research revealed that in the United States the work with families of the militaries is the most comprehensively organized: the work is available at the unit level; a range of services is provided in support centers which are located close to the military bases; there is a network of thematic information online resources; the day-and-night information support in the form of individual consultations is provided; it is developed a series of methodological materials and instructions for all participants of the process. It is revealed that in Canada, the system of work with families in the military unit has two key elements: the work of a military chaplain, and the support given from a military multi-service resource center. The analysis of the system of work with families of servicemen in the United Kingdom showed that, unlike the United States and Canada, the UK has a unique experience of territorial communities’ stimulating to support the military community by implementing the Armed Forces Covenant instruments. It is concluded that, due to the peculiarities of the current situation in Ukraine, none of the described systems can be fully used. Therewith, combining the elements of each system and taking into account national characteristics, we can get the desired result. It is proposed the discussion on the peculiarities of using international experience for the further development of a system of work with families of servicemen in Ukraine.
