Abstract
Theses deal with the definition and components of the historical substantive competence of high school students. In particular, the authors note that students' historical substantive competence is the student's ability to independently know, reflect and evaluate the past of Ukraine and the world, and the social and moral experience of past generations. The components of historical substantive competence include: chronological, spatial, informational-speech, logical, axiological competence.
