Abstract
Adult education performs the functions of vocational guidance and professional development it helps citizens to understand the essence of their individual and social development and disclose how to become active engines of personal development. In contemporary world, adult education responds to the needs of both the individual and society at large. Today, adult education is providing in various forms according to the variety of historical and cultural characteristics of specific countries; it is forming under the influence of prevailing economic activities, features of the social order, reliability of protection of property rights, dominant religions and their role in public life, values and their observance by the majority citizens, as well as the dynamics of changes occurring in all mentioned spheres of social life. That is why studying the US experience of the development of adult education in contemporary Ukraine is of particular importance. The Adult Education Perspectives in Ukraine (Lessons Learned from the US Experience) syllabus not only describes important trends of adult education in the United States, but, most importantly, offers guidelines how to use these experiences in Ukraine. Theoretical teaching of democratic education and its practical application models are relevant for modern America and modern Ukraine as well. In essence, state is creating and running by conscious and responsible citizens. The proposed syllabus presents effective methods of education of such citizens.
