Abstract
Presents the results of an empirical study of the peculiarities of the professional motives of the secondary education institutions’ heads to self-regulation in professional activity. The professional motives of the secondary education institutions’ heads in general and the peculiarities of professional motives of the secondary education institutions’ heads to self-regulation in professional activity, in particular, are investigated. In the course of the empirical research several groups of motives were identified, which made it possible to determine the hierarchy of the importance of professional motives and their components in the activity of the secondary education institutions’ heads, namely: professional motives, motives of personal and professional self-improvement, social motives, pragmatic motives, prestigious motives. The peculiarities of self-regulation among the professional motives of the secondary education institutions' heads, depending on gender and age, are determined. It was revealed that the problem of self-regulation of personality is connected with the psychological ability of the individual to be productive, energetic and active in the conditions of transformational changes in society. It is believed that the main characteristic of subjective activity is the creative nature, the ability to change the world around, which is especially important in the context of studying the personal self-regulation as a factor in the effectiveness of professional activity. This is especially important in the matter of ensuring the enhancement of the competence of the managerial activities of the head’s personality, in particular, of the secondary education institution’s head. The general level of style of self-regulation according to the results of the methodology "Style of self-regulation of behavior" of managers is studied, which influences the nature of their professional activity. It was found out that only about one third of the surveyed of the secondary education institutions' heads have a high level of formation of the general style of self-regulation, which in general may adversely affect their professional activity
