Abstract

The modern paradigm of national education is based on the principles of a competent approach, which is recognized as one of the directions of education modernization. In the field of foreign language education, the competence approach is reflected in the definition of the purpose of teaching foreign languages to students of primary secondary school. The author examines modern views on understanding the concept of "competence approach"; characterizes the subject and key competences that are formed in the lessons of a foreign language.
