Abstract
The article presents an educational elective “Geometry and design”. It is aimed at development of fantasy; formation of ideas about geometric shapes and the body of their measurement and comparison; construction of geometric shapes on the plane and space; formation of appropriate graphic forms; development of mathematical thinking. At the present stage, individuals capable of developing and making non-standard decisions are an important capital of an open democratic society. In the 21st century, the notion of “educational activities” was formed in the educational space. This phenomenon corresponds to generally accepted global trends, since it provides a solution to many educational problems, turning into a main task, namely, investing capital in the country's intellectual development. The system educational principle is the unity of education, upbringing and development. It is implemented in educational institutions of various levels and forms. This makes it necessary to develop the mental quality of an individual. Thus, learning geometric design contributes to development of a child, disclosure of his/her abilities, skills or talent. The program is designed for preschoolers, younger students. It is introduced in order to teach children how to apply the techniques of logical tasks and exercises, focus on certain activities, develop thinking and motility. The students will be able to successfully use and demonstrate the qualities, skills and talents acquired at competitions, olympiads and so on. The aim of the program is to develop in children skills to construct and at the same time to promote the development of memory, logical thinking and creative potential.
