Abstract

The article analyzes didactic and methodological researches in the field of creating textbooks for elementary school. The objectives of the textbook are determined in the context of the implementation of the competency-based approach in the educational process. There is substantiated the relevance of creating innovative textbooks in the Ukrainian language, that are ensuring the formation of subject and key competencies in elementary school students. The functions of the Ukrainian language textbook for elementary schools in terms of competency-based learning, the requirements for its content, structural components and methods for presenting didactic material are clarified.
